August 11, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Jessica Melton
Jessica has been with Harrison County Hospital for 15 years and is the Office Coordinator for the Harrison County Hospital Rehabilitation Department. Jessica runs the day-to-day in the Rehab department office and ensures that the department is running smoothly, every day! Jessica loves meeting new Rehab patients and developing a bond with those patients over the four to six weeks that they visit Rehab for their treatment.
What does Jessica love most about OUR community?
Jessica loves the friendly family atmosphere at Harrison County Hospital and also in the surrounding community!
When Jessica isn’t clocked in and helping patients and her team, you might find her on her family farm where they raise cows for their own family meat and 4H projects. Her two children are very involved in sports. Jessica loves to spend time boating with her family, including her husband, who is her high school sweetheart.

June 9, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Wendy Ward
Wendy has been with Harrison County Hospital since 2018, and she wears a few different hats. Wendy works at our After Hours Care Clinic as a medical assistant, in Health Information as a health information clerk, and in Registration at the hospital. At After Hours, Wendy assists patients with registering for visits and triaging patients for our Practitioners. In the Health Information Department, Wendy assists both patients and medical facilities with obtaining needed medical records. Wendy’s favorite part of her career is the patients. She hopes she can make their visits comfortable and pleasant. She also appreciates having amazing co-workers and loves being part of a great team.
What does Wendy love most about OUR community?
Wendy loves that our community really does care and helps each other out. She sees our community as a big extended family.
Something you may not know about Wendy, she is a Mounted Horseback Archer. Wendy also works with injured equine and canines as an ESMT. She has had her own personal/family business since 2000.

June 2, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Kim Phillips
Kim Phillips is the Laundry Coordinator for our Environmental Services Department and has been with HCH for nearly 4 years. Kim ensures that the hospital is stocked with linens so that we can best take care of our patients. Kim most enjoys knowing that she does her part to keep clean linens for our patients.

When Kim isn’t busy at work, you will probably find her spending time with her family. Kim is a busy grandmother to 8 and she’s also a huge Baltimore Ravens fan!

May 26, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Cynthia Jacobi
Cyndi is a Billing Clerk in our Business Office and will have been with HCH for 14 years this November! As a Billing Clerk, Cyndi posts payments, maintains multiple reports and logs, researches issues, completes special projects as needed, and acts as backup for others. She most enjoys doing research and putting pieces together. Her favorite part of her job is helping coworkers find the information they need to help patients.
What does Cynthia love most about OUR community?
Cyndi said, “With Corydon being a small community, we don’t just serve people but family and friends. Growing up in Harrison County makes it more personal. It’s the kind of place where people still share a smile and a friendly wave.”
Outside of work, Cyndi loves serving the Lord through her church. She enjoys teaching, helping in programs and doing crafts with the ladies.

May 19, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Lindsey Kendall
Lindsey is a registered nurse and has been with Harrison County Hospital for ten years! Lindsey is a member of the team in our Outpatient Nursing and Wound Care clinic. Lindsey’s day includes starting IVs for medications, giving injections, and assisting the wound care physician with caring for and healing patients’ wounds.
What does Lindsey love most about OUR community?
Lindsey expressed to us that she loves how thankful most people are to be taken care of. She said that truly helps encourage her to keep doing what she does!
When Lindsey isn’t working as a nurse, you might find her caring for those in her community differently. Lindsey is very involved in her church in Brandenburg. She serves on committees and ministry teams as well as the choir! Lindsey said she loves to share her love for the Lord!
Another of Lindsey’s interests…she is a self-proclaimed wound care junkie! She loves all the gory stuff and enjoys picking at and cleaning up wounds!

May 12, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Megan Vest
Megan is a medical assistant at our South Harrison Family Medicine office and has been with HCH for 4 and a half years! As a medical assistant, Megan helps physicians and mid-level providers care for patients by handling clinical tasks like vitals referrals and labs, and keeping visits running smoothly. Megan loves getting to meet some of the people who make our community so great. She enjoys building relationships with patients and being someone that they can lean on in times of need.

Megan loves that we all show up for one another. She feels that this community is always quick to help anyone in need, and that they do it with a smile!

May 5, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Damion Wagner
Damion is the Nurse Manager of our Emergency Department and has been with HCH for 18 years! Damion’s responsibilities include directing the flow and care in the Emergency Department, a team that stays extremely busy with nearly 17,000 patient visits annually. Damion most enjoys caring for patients in his role.
What does Damion love most about OUR community?
Damion feels that we live in a very family-centered community, and this is very important to him.
When Damion isn’t busy in the Emergency Department, you can find him on his farm caring for his cattle. Damion raises cattle on his farm and has about 14 Angus and Shorthorn cattle. His family also shows cattle; you can see him looking on in the photograph (red shirt).

Brittani is the Office Manager of our First Capital Medical Group practice and has been with HCH for 8 years. Before joining the First Capital team, Brittani was a coordinator for our Plant Services department. In her current role, Brittani oversees the daily operations of First Capital and makes sure the office runs smoothly, for both patients and her staff.
Brittani’s favorite part of her career is supporting her team and creating an organized, positive environment where everyone can do their best work.

When Brittani isn’t hard at work at First Capital, she’s very involved in her kids’ sports and loves to help out at her church. Brittani also loves to cook. April 21, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Tina Alvey
Tina is the Office Coordinator/EMT at our Harrison County Hospital EMS and has been with us for 27 years. Tina serves as a Billing Specialist and EMT. She has multiple certifications in ambulance billing. Not only is Tina an EMT, but she is also a Certified Ambulance coder, Certified Ambulance Documentation Specialist, Certified Ambulance Privacy Officer, and a Certified Ambulance Compliance Officer. Wow, that’s a lot of hats!
Tina’s favorite part of her career is taking someone’s bad day and trying to make it better.
What does Tina love most about OUR community?
“I love the community I live in and the people.”
Folks may not know that Tina spent many years as a volunteer firefighter on two different departments. She started out with the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department and after moving out of the district she became a member of the Milltown Volunteer Fire Department. April 14, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Nicole Coleman
Nicole is a Staff Accountant on our Finance team and has been with HCH for 8 years. In Nicole’s role, she helps prepare, verify, and maintain the Hospital’s financial records. Nicole said she loves being part of a close-knit team. She has a great boss who is flexible and understanding, and she feels her entire team is always there to lend a hand when needed.
What does Nicole love most about OUR community?
“Our community really supports local growth. I know that since I was born here 30 years ago, this county has grown immensely. The YMCA moved out of a small downtown building into the larger facility they have now, with its own on-site sports fields. We built a bigger and better hospital. We continue to get newer restaurants, both locally owned and national. I know there are people, including my own mother, who remember when this county was mostly crop fields and pig farms. Thanks to the vision of our residents before and now, our rural community has grown to support more local jobs and services.
Nicole had a fun fact to share with us. When Nicole was 9 years old, she attended the groundbreaking ceremony for this Hospital building. A photo of Nicole and her mother (who retired from HCH) was printed in the Courier-Journal. The newspaper was dated October 17, 2005 (photo in comments).

April 7, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Kayla Bennett
Kayla is a nurse in our Emergency Department and has been with HCH since 2023. When Kayla started at HCH she worked PRN as a medical assistant at our After Hours Care Clinic. She then switched to a PRN float medical assistant working for our physician practices until 2024. While in nursing school, Kayla completed her practicum in the HCH Emergency Department and became a nurse extern in that same department. Kayla passed her NCLEX and started in the ED as a new grad in 2026! Kayla said, “Being a new grad ER Registered Nurse is basically learning at full speed while staying calm in chaos and helping people on what could potentially be the scariest/worst days of their lives.”
We asked Kayla what she most enjoys about being a nurse in the ED, and she said she loves interacting with different providers and coworkers. They are always willing to teach and provide helpful feedback to help her further improve her skill set and critical thinking skills.
What does Kayla love most about OUR community?
One thing I love most about serving Harrison County and the surrounding areas is the relationships that are built between the staff and patients. I think being able to see a familiar face during times of uncertainty provides a sense of security to some patients.
Many may not know that Kayla worked as a lead certified pharmacy technician for five years and was enrolled to start college to become a pharmacist, and then decided to pursue nursing instead! Kayla – Thank you for your dedication and the care you put into your work!
March 31, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Sarah Rinker
Sarah works with the team at our After Hours Care Clinic as a Medical Assistant. She has been with us for five years. Sarah is also a Registered Nurse. In her role at After Hours she helps care for patients of all ages in our community. Sarah most enjoys the relationships she has with her co-workers!

Amy is the Infection Prevention & Sepsis Nurse Manager and has been with Harrison County Hospital for 18 years. In Amy’s role, she helps protect patients, staff, and visitors at HCH by leading infection prevention and patient safety efforts that support high-quality care for our community. What Amy most enjoys about her career at HCH is working alongside our incredible HCH team/family for the past 18 years, knowing that the work we do here makes a difference in so many people’s lives in our community.
What does Amy love most about OUR community?
“The people I love the most have been born and raised by our fabulous community!”
Amy is a 2021 graduate of Leadership Harrison County. Amy’s Leadership class, along with HCH and local community support, helped establish the SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) Program at Harrison County Hospital. The SANE Program has helped our community by ensuring that survivors receive specialized, compassionate care close to home.
Fun fact about Amy…five years ago an orange cat walked right in the hospital doors. Amy said that he ended up adopting us. Amy took the cat home and named him Steve, in honor of our CEO at the time, Steve Taylor.

March 17, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Ashley Ashton
Ashley Ashton has been with HCH for 10 years. Ashley is a Mammography Technologist in the Radiology department. Ashley plays a vital role in women’s healthcare, helping detect breast cancer as early as possible. Ashley said her favorite part of her career is meeting women in our community and reassuring them throughout what can be a vulnerable exam.
What does Ashley love most about OUR community?
Being in a smaller town, we become familiar with patients who come back year after year, and I think that is special. You don’t always get that within other areas of healthcare.
Fun fact about Ashley…she’s running the Louisville Triple Crown of Running with her siblings! Good luck, fam!

March 10, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Dylan Stiner
Dylan, a Late Helper in the Nutrition Services department, has been with Harrison County Hospital for three and a half years. Dylan assists with several jobs throughout the department in order to provide customer and patient satisfaction when it comes to their dietary needs and wants. Dylan said that his favorite part of his job is being able to have fun times with his co-workers while also being productive!
What does Dylan love most about OUR community?
“Everyone is very approachable and kind to one another,” Dylan said.
When Dylan isn’t busy being part of the Nutrition Services team, he’s extra busy as a sophomore at Ball State University where he’s studying Urban Planning and Development. Dylan is also a licensed substitute teacher for South Harrison Community Schools.

March 3, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Deanna Behr
Deanna, well known around HCH as Dee, has been with Harrison County Hospital on and off for twenty-plus years. As a Physical Therapy Assistant in the Rehabilitation & Therapy Services department, Deanna helps return patients to their prior level of function if possible, and helps maximize her patients’ functional independence.
When we asked Deanna what is her favorite part of her career is, she had this to say, “I love meeting patients and their families and them sharing their stories with me. You can really learn a lot from other people, especially the elderly community. I also really love working with my co-workers. It is more like a family than work. We have a great department and look out for one another. If a co-worker has an emergency, we all work together to cover what needs to be done with no judgment, just concern. We also enjoy celebrating birthdays and other achievements.”
What does Deanna love most about OUR community?
My patients. I love hearing about their childhoods and life experiences, and also working in a small rural hospital. You always meet someone who knows someone you know. Again, almost like family!
When Deanna isn’t helping patients at HCH, she enjoys going to her church and just helping people in any way she can. Deanna loves to cook for large groups of people. She was also lucky enough to marry her high school sweetheart!

February 24, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Allan Beverly
Allan will celebrate his second anniversary with Harrison County Hospital this April. Allan is a Systems Administrator in the Information Technology Department. In his own words, Allan manages the servers and backend data systems for the hospital and supports our other IT employees. Allan enjoys finding new ways to make systems run better and ensuring that nobody has to think about whether their data is secure.
What does Allan love most about OUR community?
Allan said that while he is not originally from this area, he feels right at home here. He says he has never felt out of place or unwanted.
When Allan isn’t working on ensuring our security in the IT department, he enjoys making YouTube videos and playing PC games. Allen helps with IT at his church as well. Fun fact about Allen…he spent 15 years as a volunteer firefighter.

February 17, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Tina Nichols
Tina Nichols has been with Harrison County Hospital for 12 years. Tina is the Patient Account Manager in the Business Office. Tina oversees the hospital and physician billing. Tina first joined Harrison County Hospital as the Office Manager at Kids First Pediatrics, then moved to Physician Billing Manager and now Patient Account Manager. She most enjoys helping patients with any insurance issues.
What does Tina love most about OUR community?
It is small enough that you know some of those that we serve.
When Tina isn’t focused on work and the billing department, she likes to keep moving. Tina says she cannot just sit and watch television. She has to be doing something, like crochet or knitting.

February 10, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Corey Powell
Corey Powell has been with Harrison County Hospital for 14 years. Corey is a Medical Assistant in our First Capital Medical Group office. Corey describes himself as the jack of all trades (and we agree!). He helps the provider with whatever they need, he will help train new staff members, and he even helps with answering the phones or calling to remind a patient of their next appointment.
When asked what Corey most enjoys about his profession, he explained that it’s talking with patients and drawing blood. He loves knowing that he can make a difference in a patient’s life with a warm smile or helping them.
What does Corey love most about OUR community?
I love that everyone feels like family!
Outside of work, Corey likes to go to our county commissioner meetings so that he can be more involved in the community. Corey also runs 5Ks and half marathons.

Derek Hall has been an EMT with Harrison County Hospital EMS for three and a half years. As an EMT, Derek treats sick and injured patients while providing the most effective care. Derek refers to his career as “a passion. EMS isn’t just a job that pays the bills.”
When asked what Derek enjoys most about his job, he replied, “I get to meet all sorts of people and help them on what is possibly the worst day of their life.” Derek enjoys participating in community events such as Toys for Tots and Shop with a Cop.
What does Derek love most about OUR community?
I love being able to help someone. Since we live in a small community, often I will see that person or a family member afterward, and they will tell us how the person is doing. It gives a sense of pride knowing that a small action made a huge difference.

January 27, 2025 | Team Tuesday – Kelly Wright
Kelly Wright, RN has been with Harrison County Hospital for 12 years. Kelly is a nurse in the Surgery Department. Kelly prepares patients for surgery and then after surgery is with them as they wake up, letting them know surgery is over and they are doing great!
When asked about Kelly’s favorite part of her job, she said it is “Meeting people and taking care of them better than they have ever been taken care of.”
What does Kelly love most about OUR community?
I love our hometown and the many wonderful people in it.
Kelly spends a lot of her time helping take care of others. Outside of work, she helps take care of her father and her sweet granddaughters.

January 20, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Samantha Crecelius
Samantha has been a Nurse with HCH for 20 years! She is currently the Nurse Manager of the ICU, TCU, Med Surg, and Swing Bed units. Overseeing multiple hospital units can be a very complex role. Samantha leads inpatient nursing staff, solves problems, ensures proper training and resources, manages schedules and staffing, maintains organization of each unit for high quality care, and is a certified instructor who teaches ACLS, PALS, CPR, Telemetry, and outpatient diabetes classes. She holds certifications in ACLS, PALS, NPR, and swing-bed care.
Sam’s favorite part of her career as a nurse manager is supporting her staff. “I enjoy empowering and mentoring my team so that they can grow in their roles,” explained Sam. “Seeing my staff be successful, gain confidence, and provide excellent care is incredibly rewarding.”
What does Samantha love most about OUR community?
I take pride in serving my own community because I get to care for friends, neighbors, and families I see outside the hospital. It makes every interaction personal and meaningful.

January 13, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Ruby Keith
Ruby has been part of the Nutrition Services team at HCH for 16 years! Ruby is a lead grill cook and she serves our customers (hospital staff and visitors) by preparing grilled and made-to-order meals. Ruby holds an associates in pastry and is working towards an associates in food entrepreneurship.
Ruby’s favorite part of her career is cooking and seeing her customers on a daily basis enjoying their favorite foods, just the way they like them!
What does Ruby love most about OUR community?
One thing I love about the community is how someone is always there to help those in need.
Ruby does plenty of helping herself. She volunteers at her church in the kids’ ministry and guest services. Ruby is a kitchen rep on the Chrysalis board. She also has a cottage baker in her home and donates items to various organizations.

January 6, 2026 | Team Tuesday – Jacob Metcalf
Jacob has been a Paramedic with Harrison County Hospital EMS for four years, and has recently been named the new Mobile Integrated Health Clinician. Jacob’s favorite part of his career is making connections with patients and helping them during their worst time.
Jacob is also a career firefighter at New Albany Fire Department. He’s been in public safety since he was 18 years old. He has also run a full marathon (26.2 miles!) at the track at the Harrison County Fairgrounds!
