Our focus is on keeping you well and well informed on health issues. Harrison County Hospital and the Harrison County Hospital Foundation urge you to take advantage of our many wellness screening events and health education programs designed to meet your needs at various stages of your life.

Do you need an employee health screening or
guest speaker to address health issues?

In addition to our regularly scheduled wellness events and health education programs provided throughout the year, our professional staff is available to conduct health evaluation screens on-site for your employees, or speak on health topics at a meeting of your organization. Secondhand Smoke
Free community meeting sponsored by the Harrison County Tobacco Coalition and the Harrison County Health Department to discuss the effects of secondhand smoke and its role, during the flu season, as a risk factor for developing the flu. Thursday, November 8, 6:00pm in the Harrison Room.

American Red Cross Blood Drive
Mondays, Oct 22, 1:00-5:00pm and Dec 17, 2:00-6:00pm, in the Harrison Room.

Hope & Healing Grief Support Group
Free monthly support group for anyone who has experienced the death of a friend or family member. Group meets on the first Tuesday of each month - Nov 6, Dec 4 - 6:00-7:30pm in the Staff Dining Room.

Community Health Screen*
Saturday, Nov 10, 8:00-10:00am by appointment only, in Rehab Services. Free Cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure testing. PSA testing, for $5, for males age 50-64, or age 40-64 with family history of prostate cancer. Full Lipid Panel for $5; For an appointment, call Wellness & Education at 812-738-7869. Reservations for appointments are made 30 days prior to the event.

Stop Smoking Successfully *
Six-week smoking cessation class begins Tuesday, Oct 2, and runs through Nov 6, 5:30-6:30 at the Hospital; $30 fee includes book and educational materials (does not include nicotine replacement products). Minimum of four participants must be enrolled for class to be held. Call 812-738-8708 for more information and registration.

Breast Self-Exam Instruction
Oct 25, 2:00-3:00pm, General Surgery Associates, Medical Office Building at the Hospital. Free informal instruction by registered nurses on breast self-exam technique, using video and handout materials, plus practice on breast models. Call 812-738-0177.

Diabetes Management*
One-on-one counseling for those who have recently learned they have diabetes or those who have lived with diabetes but need information in the basics of diabetes management. For information and appointments, call 812-738-7830, ext 236.

Healthcare Provider CPR Certification Course *
3rd and 4th Wednesdays of each month: Oct 17 & 24, Nov 21 & 28, Dec 19 & 26,
6:00-10:00pm inthe EMS Training Center on the HCH campus. Call EMS at 812-738-7830, ext 340.

HeartSaverPediatric First Aid Certification Course *
Oct 27, Nov 24, from 8:00am-6:00pm in EMS Training Center located on HCH campus, or offered on-site for local business & industry. Call EMS at 812-738-7830, ext 340, to arrange a group training schedule.
